In questo momento di grande emergenza e di bisogno di solidarietà, Podbielski Contemporary e il nostro artista Massimiliano Gatti hanno deciso promuovere un’iniziativa a favore dell’ospedale Sacco di Milano. A partire da oggi la galleria promuoverà una selezione di stampe dell’artista su carta Fine Art: l’importo ricavato sarà interamente devoluto all’ospedale. Attraverso questa iniziativa proponiamo di dare un piccolo contributo che possa sostenere l’eroico sforzo a cui sono attualmente sottoposti i nostri medici e le relative strutture sanitarie.
Le stampe selezionate testimoniano la lunga esperienza maturata da Massimiliano Gatti in Medio Oriente: un racconto intimo insieme ad una ricerca approfondita di stampo documentaristico, volti a tramandare la memoria nel tempo.
In particolare, gli scatti selezionati dalla serie Rovine, ritraggono i resti della Basilica di San Simeone Stilita, situata in Sira, a nord di Aleppo. La Basilica, conosciuta anche come il gioiello archeologico della Siria centrale, è il primo convento cristiano che sia mai stato costruito in quelle terre, sorta nel luogo in cui visse e morì Simeone Stilita il Vecchio, il primo asceta cristiano.
La selezione si conclude con altre stampe provenienti da Limes, serie maturata da una riflessione sull’atto del guardare. La finestra rappresenta una soglia, incornicia la vista, ed istituisce una particolare prospettiva sul mondo. Circoscrivendo un frammento di paesaggio in un’inquadratura forzata, gli conferiscono la profondità e l’importanza di una totalità all’interno del fotogramma. Queste stampe sono molto significative per la galleria, proprio perché da una finestra di un’abitazione abbandonata o di un luogo deturpato, l’orizzonte che si prospetta infonde un senso di apertura verso la speranza, verso un nuovo futuro
Mai come adesso, nel bel mezzo di questa crisi, il ruolo dell’arte come vettore del sentire contemporaneo diventa cruciale.
Pertanto siamo felici di poterla diffondere in più possibile attraverso questa iniziativa benefica.

In a moment of great emergency and need for urgent solidarity, Podbielski Contemporary and our artist Massimiliano Gatti have decided to promote an initiative in support of the Sacco hospital, in Milan.
Starting from today, the gallery will promote a selection of prints by the artist: the proceeds will be entirely donated to the hospital. Through this initiative we aim to make a small contribution to support the heroic efforts to which our doctors and related healthcare structures are currently subjected.
The selected prints testify to the long experience gained by Massimiliano Gatti in the Middle East: an intimate story together with an in-depth documentary research, for the sake of future memory.
In particular, the shots selected from the “Rovine” series portray the remains of the Basilica of San Simeone Stilita, located in Syria, north of Aleppo. It is also known as the archaeological jewel of central Syria and is the first Christian convent: built in the place where Simeon Stilita the Elder, the first Christian ascetic, lived and died.
The selection ends with prints from “Limes”, a series born from a reflection on the act of enquiring. The window represents a threshold, frames the view and establishes a particular perspective of the world. By circumscribing a fragment of landscape in a forced frame, they give it depth and importance. These prints are very significant for the gallery, precisely because from a window of an abandoned house or a scarred place, the horizon that appears promises a sense of openness towards hope and a new future.
Never as now, in the midst of this crisis, the crucial role of contemporary art is to be a carrier of empathy.
Therefore we are happy to be able to spread as much as possible this philanthropic initiative.
