How Podbielski Contemporary handles the personal data you share through this website — what we keep, why, for how long, and what you can ask of us.
- We keep only what you choose to send us: an email you write to the gallery, or your email address for the newsletter.
- No advertising cookies. We count visits without cookies and see only totals; the map on the Contact page loads only if you accept it, and we never sell or share your data for marketing.
- Messages are deleted 24 months after our last exchange. You can leave the newsletter at any time.
- To see, correct or delete your data, write to info@podbielskicontemporary.com.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Podbielski Contemporary di Andrew Peter Podbielski, Via Maroncelli 11, 20154 Milano, Italy (VAT number IT10315040963, REA MI-2521787). You can reach us at info@podbielskicontemporary.com, by certified email (PEC) at podbielskicontemporary@pec.it, or on +39 02 3672 3611.
What we collect and why
- Messages. The contact form on this website stores nothing: it opens your own email app with the message ready, and you send it to us yourself. When you write to us, through that form or directly, we receive your name, your email address, your message and, if you asked about one, the work or artist concerned. We use them to answer you and, if you wish, to arrange a visit or prepare an offer. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before a possible purchase (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in answering (art. 6(1)(f)).
- Newsletter. If you subscribe we keep your email address to send news of exhibitions, fairs and new work a few times a year. Legal basis: your consent (art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time with the link at the end of every email.
- Purchases. If a conversation leads to a purchase, we keep the details needed for invoicing and accounting. Legal basis: the contract and our legal obligations (art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).
- Visitor counts. We count visits to each page without cookies and without storing anything on your device. To tell visits apart for one day, the server makes an anonymous code from your IP address, browser and a random value that is replaced every 24 hours; the IP address itself is not stored, and only totals are kept — pages viewed, the website you came from, country, language and type of device. Nobody can be recognised from one day to the next. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (art. 6(1)(f)).
- Speed of the website. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures how quickly pages load and how often they are viewed, without cookies and without storing anything on your device; we see only totals. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a website that works well (art. 6(1)(f)).
- Map. If you accept media cookies, the map on the Contact page is loaded from Google Maps, which receives your IP address. Legal basis: your consent.
- Visits. Like every web server, ours records the IP address, date and time, page requested and browser of each visit, to keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in security (art. 6(1)(f)).
We do not use your data for profiling or automated decisions.
How long we keep it
- Messages: 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Accounting records of a purchase: ten years, as Italian law requires.
- Visitor counts: the daily code is deleted after 24 hours; the totals have no personal data and are kept.
- Server logs: 14 days.
Who else sees it
Only the gallery's staff, and the companies that run the services we use on our behalf, under contracts that oblige them to protect your data (art. 28 GDPR): the website's developer and host, Webits ApS (Denmark), and Cloudflare, Inc., whose network delivers the website and measures its speed without cookies; the newsletter service, Artshell (Italy); our email service, Microsoft; and Google Ireland Ltd. for the map, if you accept it.
We share data with authorities only when the law requires it. We never sell personal data or use it for advertising.
Outside the European Union
Webits and Artshell are based in the European Union. Cloudflare, Microsoft and Google may process data in the United States; all three are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as adequate.
Translation
We use Claude, an AI service by Anthropic, to translate our own texts between English and Italian. Messages you send us and other personal data are never sent to it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time (articles 15–22 GDPR). Write to info@podbielskicontemporary.com; we answer within one month.
You can also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection and has no public login. The gallery's admin is separate, protected by two-step login and open only to its staff.
Cookies
Necessary cookies are always on; media cookies (the map) only with your consent. The details, and how to change your choice, are in our informativa sui cookie.
