Artissima 2013

At Artissima 2013 we wish to present one of the upcoming photographer in Israel, Ohad Matalon. With his distinct reflection on his own country he reveals political forces and interest by exposing the manipulation. He often uses symbolic icons of the Israeli culture excessively, reproducing stereotypical imagery of Israel.

He has shown at the Haifa Museum of Art and will have a solo show in Tel Aviv Museum of Art in 2014. In 2012 he won the BNL-BNP Paribas prize and in 2010 the Minister of culture Award. He teaches photography at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. His works are already in the collection of e.g. Haifa and Tel Aviv Museum of Art, as well as private collections. The presentation at Artissima in 2013 would attract Israeli and Middle Eastern collectors to come to the fair.
